PTSD can often stand in the way of a healthy quality of life. Adding a writing part to the drone program supports the mental wellness component and enables the participants to ease their anxieties, organize their thoughts, focus on learning, reduce fears, articulate and regulate emotions in order to break any cycle of rumination.
Orientation will consist of a writing exercise by A Write to Heal and an introduction session with 22Zero.
In the 1st phase of the program, veterans will receive classroom instruction addressing FAA regulations, operating requirements, and procedures for flying drones. In the 2nd phase of the program, veterans will participate in hands-on flight lessons. A Write to Heal and 22Zero will check in on participants to evaluate and mitigate obstacles. In the final phase, veterans will prepare for the FAA 107 certification exam and attend career readiness coaching sessions. A final writing segment will help veterans to express how they plan to use their Part 107 drone license and guide them towards career opportunities.
The writing program will offer trauma survivors an alternative way to express their stories and to heal. Writing as a tool can provide mental wellness and allow trauma to be empowering instead of demoralizing.

The writing program will offer trauma survivors an alternative way to express their stories and to heal. Writing as a tool can provide mental wellness and allow trauma to be empowering instead of demoralizing.
Lisa Regina's survival combined with her years of research and documented interviews with domestic violence survivors, veterans and their families led her to create the
A Write to Heal Program.
This writing program has been added as a mental wellness component of the Veterans Drone Training Program.
"Following my assault, my pad and pen helped me through the darkest times. Pouring my pain out onto paper has been a big part of my healing process." _Lisa Regina

That is why the development of the series Heroic Episodes is a crucial partner to the Veterans Film Apprenticeship. The ongoing series will provide continued job opportunities for veterans as cast, crew and Part 107 Commercial Drone Camera Pilots.
The goal of the film apprenticeship is to reduce the number of unemployed veterans, homeless veterans, disabled veterans and veterans who succumb to suicide.
My friendship with Retired U.S. Army CPT Leslie Nicole Smith and my 12 years of interviews with veterans has inspired the Veterans Drone Training Program (VDTP)and the writing of my series Heroic Episodes.
On April 6, 2024, I implemented the first class of the VDTP at ACCC-Atlantic Cape Community College. On September 21, 2024, 10 veterans graduated from this class as Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilots! The goal is to grow the Veterans Drone Training Program throughout the United States.
The vision is to film the ongoing series, Heroic Episodes and employ veterans as cast, crew and drone camera pilots. The series is based on true stories of veterans. My research includes over twelve years of interviews with military men and women of all branches of service and all wars. Our heroes stories include messages of bravery, hope and humanitarian acts. These stories are vast and often go untold. The series and A Write to Heal's programs will work in conjunction to provide our heroes with camaraderie, jobs and most importantly, healing.

Training and Job Opportunities in the Aviation and Film Industry.
"I've cast so many veterans in my film projects who took an interest in the camera drones that we used during the filming process. Many of these veterans also expressed an interest in obtaining their Part 107 Commercial Drone License.
My goal is to help each and every one of these heroes train, prepare and test for their Part 107 License and guide them to find drone related jobs in the aviation and film industries."
