Vets on Set

Veterans talk about their experiences working on Lisa Regina's film sets, two short films with a strong message, 'The Shades' and 'The Shooters Nail.' The military mindset translates well to a film set. "The veterans on set enjoyed the camaraderie, they were motivated, disciplined and completed the mission.

"It was such a powerful experience working with military men and women on set. They really had my back and gave me peace of mind so I could focus on directing my actors."

"we're very mission oriented people and we don't stop until that mission is complete."

MSG Ariella Martinez, U.S. Air Force

"it's typically challenging for us veterans to transition into another line of work. There's nothing more collaborative than a movie set. These connections are also a major help to those that suffer from mental challenges developed in war time."

Tom Dixon U.S. Marine Corps.

As the saying goes, “The sky’s the limit,” and such a saying could easily serve as the VDTP’s motto. The Veterans Drone Training Program effectively positions veterans to rejoin the workforce as commercial drone pilots in the film and aviation industry. The program also ventures beyond practical, tangible benefits to provide intangible benefits that standard drone pilot license courses lack, an approach that fosters post-traumatic growth. The program’s design reflects the understanding that post-traumatic growth can be facilitated in many ways, including disclosure of traumatic experiences, narrative development, and service.

Frank Stittz, U.S. Army

"film sets operate with a hierarchy and clear roles mirroring military structure"

Tom Dixon U.S. Marine Corps.

'Heroic Episodes' is a series is based on true stories of veterans. Lisa Regina's research includes nine years of interviews with military men and women of all branches of service and all wars. Our heroes stories include messages of bravery, hope and humanitarian acts.

Lisa feels these stories are vast and often untold. Her mission is to adapt these stories to a series.

This will allow Lisa to run the Veterans Film Apprenticeship in conjunction with the series and  provide our heroes with camaraderie, jobs and most importantly, healing.

Film Heals

I wrote The Shades, a short film about women who survived violence. I brought veterans on as part of the production's cast and crew.

In the film, women survivors spoke out on camera for the very first time about their assault as the military men and women stood alongside them demonstrating a strong support.

Advocates and counselors were also on set to help during this extremely emotional and cathartic experience.

U.S. Air Force

"The camaraderie, community and connection veterans would have working on a project and working together would help in their transition, that's the hardest thing when you leave the military."

Justin Rasik, U.S. Army

"Having the ability to train and get a drone license would be massively beneficial to a veteran for sure"

Jody Austin, U.S. Air Force

"the Veterans Drone Training Program can build camaraderie which is a core element of being a military service member"

AJ Ballinger, U.S. Marine

"I'm a nature and wildlife photographer. Having a drone license would benefit the moments that I capture."

Sergeant Chrissy Lemond, U.S. Army

"It would be an incredible opportunity"
