To provide trauma survivors creative pathways to heal through writing, film and new career opportunities.
The stories of survivors of domestic violence, trauma, and war are countless. When survivors come together, shared experience becomes connection—and connection becomes healing. Through community, storytelling can restore hope and ease the isolation that trauma often leaves behind.

As a child, I turned to writing and drawing to process my emotions. Losing my mother as a teen and surviving a violent assault later in life taught me the power of creativity for healing. A Write to Heal helps survivors, veterans, and at-risk teens use writing to reclaim their voice, find strength, and restore hope.

After surviving assault, I turned my writings into spoken word monologues, sharing my story with women who have faced trauma. In 2006, I founded A Write to Heal. Over the years, my work has expanded to veterans and at-risk teens, using creativity and storytelling to foster confidence, healing, and connection.

Casting veterans in my films The Shooter’s Nail and The Shades showed me that trauma is trauma—connection, camaraderie, and shared purpose help us heal each other. These experiences inspired the Veterans Drone Training Program and the series Heroic Episodes.
